Minnesota is coming off of an emotional 128-125 win against the Utah Jazz where Derrick Rose scored a career-high 50 points in a game where Jimmy Butler, who has not been shy about his desire to be traded, reportedly sat out to rest his hurting body.

The Wolves are led by Jimmy Butler scoring 22.5 points per game, Karl-Anthony Towns grabbing 10.6 rebounds per game and Jeff Teague with 6.9 assists per game.

Minnesota is scoring 116 points per game (8th of 30), allowing 118.5 points per game (27th of 30), earning a simple rating system (SRS) score of -0.43 (16th of 30), pace factor of 102.2 (11th of 30), offensive rating of 113.5 (7th of 30) and defensive rating of 116.0 (27th of 30).

The Wolves are 4-4 straight up (SU) for the season, 4-4 against the spread (ATS), winning and covering in their last two games, and 5-3 to the over/under with their last two games going over the posted total.

Golden State Warriors

Even on a night when Kevin Durant is not scoring 30 points or Klay Thompson is not catching fire, one or more of the other Warriors’ superstars steps up to continue their renewed assault on the regular season and the rest of the NBA.

In a 131-121 win against the Pelicans on Halloween, Draymond Green went two assists short of a triple-double and Stephen Curry had 37 points as he continues to build his case for MVP consideration.

Golden State is led by Steph Curry scoring 33.0 points per game, KD with 7.2 rebounds per game and Draymond dishing 8.1 assists per contest.

The Warriors are scoring 125.0 points per game (1st of 30), conceding 111.9 points per game (15th of 30), earning a SRS score of 10.94 (2nd of 20), pace factor of 102.4 (10th of 30), offensive rating of 122.1 (1st of 30) and defensive rating of 109.3 (13th of 30).

The Dubs are 8-1 SU, 5-4 ATS and 6-3 to the over/under, going over the posted total in their last 5 games.

Analysis

Just when many might be lulled into complacency towards the Warriors’ impressive run of winning during this Golden Era, the Dubs continue to outdo themselves in the record books and the box score.

Golden State’s surprise this season has been a spirited approach to the regular season and solid bench play, characterized by a relentless offensive attack and pace superimposed on their familiar foundation of passing to get open shots and selfless play.

This offensive intensity has translated to the top rated offense in the NBA and ridiculously high scoring, leading to their games going over the total in their last five games.

In their game against the Pelicans, the total opened at 233 but was bet up to 241 by tip, and the final score still went over by 11 points.

The Wolves have covered ATS in six of their last nine and four of their last six games against the Warriors, and five of the last seven contests between these teams have gone under the posted total.

Given the Warriors current streak of offensive potency and full game scores going over the total, a market correction has likely begun with more inflated totals that will render diminished value.

But in another match-up of top ten offenses during a season characterized by faster pace, taken together with bottom tier defense being played by Minnesota, we are once again going to consider taking the Warriors to go over their team total and for the full game to go over 238.5 points.
