Each year, the Iowa 4-H Club’s community involvement projects are sponsored by Pioneer and the Iowa 4-H Foundation in conjunction with the Iowa 4-H and Youth Programs. Pioneer is offering up to $ 5,000 to select 4-H clubs in Iowa. Awards are given directly to clubs through the Iowa 4-H Foundation. Grants range from a minimum of $ 50 to a maximum of $ 500.
To apply for this grant, clubs / groups create a project that will improve their community.
The Tama County 7-9th grade county council has developed a project to create bags for the Toledo Police Department to distribute to children who they believe can use them in the event of their parents’ arrest, a car accident or fire.
The bags are handed over to the police for distribution to children aged 3 to 10 to relieve anxiety and also so that children are not afraid of the police.
4-H members have learned financial skills, including preparing a budget, completing an application and submitting a final report.
Fifteen bags were presented by Grade 7-9 County Council 4-H on Wednesday, September 15 to the Toledo Police Department. Bags included blanket, stuffed animal, storybook, activity book, colors, play dough, snacks, flashlight, cards and games
