Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback Dwayne Haskins was injured by his wife in a domestic violence incident at a Las Vegas hotel, police said.

Haskins and his wife, Kalabrya Gondrezick-Haskins, were staying at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino during a visit to Las Vegas on July 3 when she punched him in the face, according to a police report from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. .

Court records confirm that Gondrezick-Haskins was charged with assault and battery, which constitutes domestic violence with significant bodily harm.

The couple were staying in Las Vegas and going to different events that night with their friends, police said citing Haskins. He was going to a nightclub and his wife was supposed to attend a “Magic Mike” show with another group, according to the police report.

Gondrezick-Haskins was angry with Haskins because he was supposed to wait until everyone got back to the hotel before going to the nightclub, he allegedly said. Police said Haskins told them they started arguing but did not remember the way he was punched in the mouth.

When paramedics arrived, however, Haskins told a doctor his wife had punched him in the face, according to the police report. He said he also told a member of hotel security that “I want her to come out of my room, she hit me and slit my lip.”

Police said Gondrezick-Haskins told them she was frustrated with her husband because she was locked out of their room for two hours. She said that because her name was not on the reservation, she was unable to enter and had no room to prepare for the evening, according to the report.

Gondrezick-Haskins alleged her husband had an argument with another friend and she fell to the ground, hitting her head, when she tried to intervene. She said she did not remember if anyone had beaten her, although she said she had bruises on her legs and complained of head and neck pain, according to the report.

“During the interview, Kalabrya had several opportunities to tell the truth about what had happened,” the police report said. “She appeared to be withholding information, but she didn’t provide further details.”

Two witnesses gave statements to police, claiming the couple were arguing and one saw them jostle and push before falling to the ground. An unidentified man, possibly a friend of Haskins’, entered and left the room, the witness said.

Haskins suffered a cut to his lip and lost a tooth and was taken to hospital for evaluation.

“The victim’s lip required stitches, which were of a substantial nature,” the report said. “Dwayne’s mouth looked swollen and bruised and would most likely need dental work to repair his teeth.”

A representative for Haskins did not immediately respond to an email requesting comment on Thursday. The Steelers also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

No attorneys have been listed in Gondrezick-Haskins court records, and contact details could not be found during a search of public records.

Haskins was signed by the Steelers in January as a replacement quarterback after two seasons with the Washington football team.
