Sony has “removed” its official Killzone franchise site, and anyone who clicks on the site is now redirected to the generic PlayStation site instead.

If someone walks up to the Guerrilla Games manager Killzone website, they will only receive a message from Sony and a redirect to PlayStation.com.

“The official Killzone franchise site has retired,” Guerrilla said in a statement posted to the recently emptied site. “We apologize for this inconvenience. […] Thank you to the many fans and visitors to Killzone.com over the years for their enthusiasm and support. “

Seven years after the last game in the series hit shelves, it looks like Sony is set to exit the series for now.

Developer Guerrilla Games currently has his hands full, after all. Between the meteoric success of Horizon Zero Dawn and the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West, the studio is arguably justified in moving away from the franchise for now.

It should be noted that the site’s deletion will have some impacts on the online elements of the last two games in the series, although multiplayer itself will not be affected.

“While this change does not affect online multiplayer modes, player stats, or rank data for Killzone Mercenary and Killzone Shadow Fall, it is no longer possible to create or manage clans in Killzone Shadow Fall.” , indicates the message on the site.

Once upon a time, Killzone was a flagship brand for PlayStation and enjoyed versions on PS2, PS3, PS4 and portable PlayStation consoles.

Sony has not made any official statement on the brand’s future, but at the time of writing, no future Killzone plans have been officially announced.
