Little information is circulating on Twitter, but VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb says this showcase will be huge, with plenty of meat to snack on.
All I’ve heard about today’s show from Sony is that they think they have a lot of huge reveals.September 9, 2021
According to Video game chronicles, there’s a Twisted Metal video game in development to coincide with the TV series reportedly in the works (via Variety) with Sony Pictures, written by the writers of Deadpool.
The news first came through reporter Jeff Grubb on the Giant Bomb Video Show (behind the paywall). In it, Grubb said, “I think Twisted Metal is in the works, but maybe it’s still a long way off, so I think we’re ahead. This shows a larger change in strategy from Sony – eh well, it’s not even a change, it’s a ‘broadening’ of their strategy. “
“If they’ve got Twisted Metal ready to show [at Thursday’s Showcase], they could. But anyway, it looks like it’s in the works, it looks like it’s happening, and it looks like it doesn’t involve David Jaffe. “
So yeah, maybe Sony will show Twisted Metal. Only time will tell.
A new Twisted Metal game is in development to coincide with the upcoming TV series, reports @JeffGrubb. This matches what I have heard separately from my own sources.https: //t.co/hFGRts3LEYSeptember 9, 2021
While browsing Twitter, there isn’t much to report. There are fans who are hoping to get a new Jak and Daxter game, but given the declining popularity of mascot platforms, that seems unlikely.
Either way, this is an essential showcase for Sony. With Horizon Forbidden West pushed back to 2022, Sony has no major games for the holiday season. We doubt that Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, an updated game from 2019, will satisfy longtime PlayStation fans. But Microsoft, on the other hand, has both Forza Horizon 5 and Infinite halo, both of which will be major Game Pass hits.
Samuel Prince, editor-in-chief of proprietary developer Naughty Dog, somewhat teased the developers’ involvement in PlayStation Showcase. Could we end up seeing a brand new game of Naughty Dog, or the return of Uncharted. Or maybe a big update to The Last of Us 2?
Sony’s hype for the PlayStation Showcase doesn’t really give us a clue what to expect. But it looks cool.

We wonder if Sony will give us an update on PS5 replenishment and how it might resolve the issues with purchasing the console almost a year after its release. Unfortunately, PS5 restocking set to be a bit gloomy until 2023, so we’re not sure we can expect any good news.
There’s a lot of excitement surrounding a potential God of War: Ragnarok reveal, beyond just a name. And we are totally here for that!

But expect to hear updates from PlayStation developers big and small. It will be interesting to see what indie games Sony might have on the PS5 roster.
Likewise, don’t expect to see the PS5 Pro either, although a more reliable informant has claimed Sony is working on an improved PS5 that will debut in 2023 as soon as possible.
The renderings made by fans of a “PlayStation Portable” are doing the rounds, with the person who shared them claiming that Sony will announce such a device today.
However, these are not official renderings from Sony, nor do they appear to be based on any leaked information. So we don’t expect to see a successor to the PS Vita today. But the concept is cool.
So today is the big day when Sony will show what it has in store for the PS5 this autumn.
And from this Twitter post, it looks like we might get our first look at Alan Wake Remastered on the PS5. This should excite fans of the scary horror a la Twin Peaks.
