A white nationalist from Ohio is accused of threatening a Jewish community center after weapons, ammunition and bulletproof armor were found at his home.
Propaganda material was also found in the residence of James Reardon Jr., 20, in New Middleton, according to WYTV.
"It's a person who has declared himself a white nationalist," said police chief Vincent D'Egidio, according to the television channel. "With hate crimes and all that happens, we want to make sure we do our part to make sure we have done our part to get that person off the street quickly."
Officers from the FBI's violent crime task force raided the house on Friday and recovered their arsenal, which included semi-automatic weapons. Accused of harassment by telecommunication and serious threats, he is currently being held in Mahoning County Jail on bail of $ 250,000 while he is awaiting a hearing in court on Monday.
According to investigators, Reardon posted a video on Instagram in July with a man shooting with a semi-automatic rifle. The caption read: "The police identified the shooter of the Jewish family community in Youngstown as the local white nationalist Seamus O'Rearedon," according to WYTV.
"This has launched an intense investigation, a rapidly evolving investigation due to the current state of the world," D'Egidio told the television channel. Two years ago, Reardon participated in the "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, which left counter-protester Heather Heyer and the death of two American soldiers, according to WYTV.
The Cleveland Anti-Defamation League said in a statement that she "was grateful for the work done by the FBI, the local law enforcement and our community partners in the Youngstown Jewish community"
"We will continue to use all our resources to put an end to the spread of white nationalism and violent extremism," said the ADL.
It is not clear if Reardon will face federal charges.
