Police arrest a driver involved in a fatal accident on I-465 in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Three people were killed and seven others were injured in a multi-vehicle accident on the eastbound lanes of I-465 at Indianapolis, near Keystone Ave.

According to Indianapolis firefighters, a semitrailer truck crashed against a car that killed a woman and two small children.

The accident occurred around 12 o'clock. and it was the semitrailer truck, a pickup truck with a mobile home trailer and other passenger cars.

According to Sergeant John Perrine of the Indiana State Police, the 57-year-old trailer driver was arrested on three charges of reckless homicide. and five counts of criminal offense causing injury.

According to Indy Star, the driver reportedly told officials that the accident had been caused by a white car that had cut him while he was driving at high speed. He braked before hitting the cars in front of him.

The debris from the accident was scattered on the road for a distance of three quarters of a mile.

The eastbound lanes remain closed at 20:40.

The investigation is ongoing.
