Police, FBI search for Brian Laundrie, fiancé of missing 22-year-old Gabby Petito

Police and FBI are now looking for Brian Laundry, a person of interest in the case of her missing fiancé, 22 Gabby Petito. Laundrie’s family lawyer contacted the FBI on Friday night, saying they wanted to talk about their son’s disappearance. They said they hadn’t seen him since North Port, Fla., Police on Tuesday said overnight in a statement.

“For the past six days, the North Port Police Department and the FBI have been begging the family to contact investigators regarding Brian’s fiancée Gabby Petito,” police said. “Friday is the first time they have spoken in detail with investigators.”

“It is important to note that although Brian is a person of interest in Gabby’s disappearance, he is not wanted for a felony,” police said. “We are not currently working on a criminal investigation. We are now working on an investigation of several missing persons.”

Authorities said they were looking for laundry facilities in the Carlton Preserve, a park in Sarasota County, Florida.

“His family say they believe he entered the area earlier this week. More details when they become available,” he added. North Port Police tweeted Saturday morning.

On Friday, the FBI was at the Laundrie residence “removing property to help locate Brian,” Laundrie’s family lawyer said in a statement to CBS News. “Please be aware that the fate of Brian Laundrie is currently unknown,” said attorney Steven Bertolino.

Police described Laundrie, 23, as a 5’8 ” white male with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a backpack with a waist strap.

North Port Police


Gabby Petito, the laundry bride has disappeared last month, while the couple were traveling across the country, they started in July. They intended to reach Oregon by Halloween, according to their social media accounts.

On September 1, Laundrie drove his Ford Transit pickup back to Florida alone, police said. Petito’s family filed a missing persons report with Suffolk County Police in New York on Saturday.

Petito’s last known contact with her family was in late August when she was in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, authorities said. Petito is now the subject of a nationwide search, and her parents have pleaded for Laundrie and her family to cooperate with authorities.

“What I want from everyone here is help,” Gabby’s father Joe Petito said earlier this week. “Whatever you can do to make sure my daughter gets home, I ask you to help me. Nothing else matters at this time.

Police video released Thursday shows Petito and Laundrie had a emotional struggle in Moab, Utah, weeks before she went missing.
