CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

RIPLEY – Brenda L Gibbons, 50, with no address given, has been charged with drunk driving and leaving the scene of a car crash. MPs received a report of an accident at 9:07 p.m. Sunday on Shortman Road in the town of Ripley. It was reported that one of the vehicles involved in the crash, a blue pickup truck, was fleeing the scene and heading south towards Highway 20. MPs spotted the vehicle and an investigation later revealed that the operator was driving drunk. Gibbons was transported to Westfield Police Department for treatment and later released.

¯ CARROLL – Brandi M. Hallenbeck, 46, of Falconer, has been charged with impaired driving, DWI per se, no inadequate lights, no taillights / insufficient. MPs stopped a vehicle at 9.42 p.m. on August 14 for multiple infractions. An investigation revealed that Hallenbeck allegedly drove the vehicle intoxicated. She was treated and released with tickets to later appear in Carroll Town court.

ARKWRIGHT – Jeffrey D. Kozlowski Jr., 33, of Cassadaga, has been charged with Fourth Degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon and Seventh Degree Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance. MPs on Monday carried out a check of Kozlowski’s mandate at an address in the town of Arkwright. Kozlowski was at the residence and was reportedly found in possession of a controlled substance and a firearm that he was prohibited from possessing. He was taken into custody.

¯ SHERMAN – A woman from Northeastern Pennsylvania has been charged with mistreating two dogs.

At approximately 6:04 p.m. on August 19, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to an animal complaint on Park Street. Upon arrival, MPs located two dogs that were placed inside a cage without adequate food.

For the welfare of the dogs, they were seized by a local animal control officer and brought to the humanitarian company for proper care. After an investigation, it was discovered that Cassandra L. Casler, 35, had placed the dogs in the crate without adequate food. Casler was fined on Wednesday on charges of excessive driving, torturing or injuring animals. Casler will be in Sherman Court at a later date to respond to the charges.

WESTFIELD POLICE DEPARTMENT

Jennifer Stow, 41, of Westfield, has been charged with driving third degree aggravation without a license, driving without a front / rear bumper and not stopping at a brake light. Officers noticed that a vehicle did not stop at a stop sign at 10:29 p.m. Sunday on North Portage Street at Main Street. The same vehicle would have driven without a rear bumper. An investigation found that Stow’s driving privileges had been suspended. Stow is expected to be at Westfield Village Court later.
