Man injured in motorbike accident in Hanover
HANOVER – A 22-year-old man was injured and transported by helicopter after an accident on Monday evening.
At around 7 p.m., Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Dennison Road with a bodily injury motorcycle accident. The operator of the motorcycle, whose name has not been released, was transported by STAT Medivac to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo for his injuries.
An investigation into this incident is currently underway. No other vehicle or person was involved in the accident.
CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHERIFF DEPARTMENT
¯ CHARLOTTE – Sheriff’s deputies dealt with a harassment complaint on Route 60 in the city of Charlotte on August 25. Further investigation revealed that William K. Scott, 73, of Sinclairville, pushed another person. Scott has received an appearance ticket and will respond to his charge in the city of Charlotte Court at a later date.
SILVER CREEK – MPs have been sent to an address in the village over a reported harassment complaint.
Upon arrival, MPs spoke to several subjects and, through an investigation, it was determined that the implicated suspect had violated an active protection order away. The suspected suspect was found shortly after and identified as Lawrence Mosandel, 69, of Silver Creek.
Mosandel was subsequently arrested and charged with second degree criminal contempt. He was then transported to Chautauqua County Jail where he was held pending a central arraignment.
NEW YORK STATE POLICE
BEMUS POINT – New York State soldiers have charged Ian Mortimer, 32, of Big Flats, with drug-impaired driving.
Mortimer was arrested on Interstate 86 at Bemus Point for a traffic violation and after failing several field sobriety tests, Mortimer was transported to the Fredonia barracks where he was assessed by an expert in drug recognition from the city of Dunkirk and determined to be under the influence of cannabis. .
A blood sample was obtained from Mortimer at Brooks Memorial Hospital. Mortimer was then transported to Jamestown, processed and issued tickets. Mortimer is due to appear in the town of Ellery Court next month.
CATTARAUGUS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
¯ A woman from Jamestown was arrested on a warrant. According to Sheriff’s deputies, Jena Croakman, 29, was arrested in an incident unrelated to the Jamestown City Police Department. Croakman was arrested on September 15 by MPs and transported to the sheriff’s office for treatment. She was charged with fourth degree criminal possession of stolen property and brought to justice in New Albion court where she was released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Little Valley Town court at a later date.
¯ SALAMANCA – A resident of Salamanca has been charged following a search of her home.
According to MPs, on September 17, a search warrant was executed at 28 1/2 Clinton St. by the Southern Tier Drug Task Force. Darlyn Horsefall was arrested for third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia and endangering the well-being of a child.
She must answer the charges brought before the court in the city of Salamanca.
¯ RANDOLPH – A man from Mayville faces charges after being arrested on pending warrants. Tyler P. Conway, 25, has been arrested on arrest warrants outside the town of Randolph, according to MPs. The charges for the arrest warrants were two counts of third degree criminal mischief, attempted second degree burglary and third degree robbery.
Conway was treated and brought to justice where he was sent to Cattaraugus County Jail in lieu of a $ 100,000 cash bond.
GOWANDA POLICE DEPARTMENT
A teenager was arrested for being in a house without permission at night. Police said a Broadway Road resident said she was awakened as she slept in her bedroom with her young son, allegedly by Xavier J. Tyler, 18, of 9584 Route 62, Dayton, who was standing next to his bed. The woman yelled at Tyler to get out, after which he ran for the door. The woman told police she confronted Tyler, whom she knew, at the door of her residence and told him to wait for the police. He did not have permission or the right to enter the residence.
Police said when they arrived, Tyler was in the driveway. He was charged with second degree criminal trespassing and released on a ticket to appear in the Persian municipal court.
A man from Gowanda is accused of driving while intoxicated. Police said Joseph Laforme, 21, of 13141 Route 438, was arrested by police for driving a vehicle with a license plate fire violation.
Laforme reportedly showed signs of intoxication and failed several sobriety checks. He refused to take all breath tests for alcohol.
Police said they observed many open and partially emptied alcohol containers.
There was also a female passenger in the vehicle who was under 21 and appeared to be intoxicated. A computer check from the DMV revealed that Laforme only had a driver’s license and that there was no licensed driver in the vehicle.
Laforme was charged with DWI, refusal to take a breathalyzer test, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, incorrect driver’s license, supplying alcohol to a person under the age of 21 and violating the license plate.
He was released on an appearance ticket to appear in Collins Town court at a later date.
