MADISON, Wisconsin. – Madison Police are looking for a pair of thieves who drove through a neighborhood on the east side and stole packages from porches earlier this month.

An incident report said two people stole items from the 400 block of North Star Drive on November 17. The items were placed in the back of an older blue van.

Surveillance photos showed that one of the thieves wore a winter hat, a black jacket, light pink pants, dark pink shoes and a bandana covering his face.

Those with information on the people involved or the location of their truck are encouraged to call Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014.

Madison Police have suggested a number of ways to protect your packages from porch hackers:

  • Have your packages held at your local carrier for pickup
  • Take advantage of the ‘Ship to Store’ feature for curbside pickup or Amazon’s ‘Locker’ feature
  • Request that your package have a signature confirmation upon delivery
  • Have your carrier place the packages in an area out of sight
  • Have packages delivered to your work
  • Schedule delivery for when you are home
  • Have the packages delivered to a neighbor who is at home
  • Watch your porch (Xfinity Home, Ring Doorbell, Nest and others)
