"Burning Secret": The lost history of Kubrick found after 60 years – World

The plot of the movie "Burning Secret", which never came into existence, was discovered by a film teacher. Abrams was investigating the latest director, "Eyes Wide Shut," when he came across the lost story. Nathan Abrams of Bangor University said the new discovery was "fantastic".

"The son of a Kubrick collaborator, who wishes to remain anonymous at this time, showed me a copy," said the professor, who is research director at the # 39, School of Creative Studies and Media at the University of North Wales.

The film student said that biographies and archives on Kubrick were referring to the argument. "What no one knew, it was true that they had actually written an argument and finished – and now we know the answer to that question and we have a complete argument," said the professor

" Burning Secret "is an adaptation of a 1913 novel The Austrian writer Stefan Zweig, written by Kubrick in 1956 with the novelist Calder Willingham. The argument picks up the original Viennese Jewish novel and adapts it to contemporary Kubrick America.

The adaptation tells the story of an insurance salesman who creates friendships with a 10-year-old boy so that he can seduce the mother of the child.

"I would say we can see a direct connection between this film, between Lolita, Barry Lyndon, The Shining and Eyes Wide Shut," said Professor Abrams

"Elements of this film, which although it has not been done, nourished by other films, we can follow your thinking for 40 years, "he added.

The film project "Burning Secret" was abandoned after speculation of breach of contract, when MGM discovered that Kubrick was working on the film "Paths of Glory" with writer Willingham.

In addition, it would have been difficult to bring a story of adultery and an ambiguous relationship with a child in cinemas in the 1950s.

"He worked there and was very excited, according to his production partner at the time, James B Harris," he said. "It's the studio that canceled the project."
