NOS Alive 2018 | The National – Exciting as always

Before the Stone Age Queens a group seemed much calmer, but able to create absolutely addictive subjects. Of course, we are talking about The National which was their 15th concert in Portugal.

In the luggage that they brought Sleep Well Beast record that had already come to present at the Lisbon Coliseum on October 29 last year, and it was critically acclaimed and the fans.

Matt Berninger's band is almost Portuguese, given the times they played here. It is only in this way that one can perceive the ease with which songs are absorbed, new or old, and the way the singer captivates the audience. Matt Berninger, with his half-strained voice, is not a singer of excellence – you can see some explosions here and there – but the soul, the strength and the importance that gives to each interpretation make this detail merely auxiliary.

The first five songs, The National immediately sent five titles to the most recent album, with a special emphasis on the single "The Only Dreams System in Total Darkness."

However, emphasizing a single theme at an American concert is only evil For example, if "Guilty Party" was a mixture of emotions, "I Need My Girl" was sung by all present; If "Day I Die" is another highlight of the new album, "Fake Empire" brings us back to Boxer 2007. It's a concert of these gentlemen, always with strengths, and despite being considered an alternative rock band, ends up having a more rock and punk attitude than many bands on the planet.

Matt Berninger, still agitated, walked from one side to the other of the stage, had an almost poetic moment with one of the remote-controlled cameras on stage that was following his orders, and still managed the feat of taking a beer from one side of the room. Of course, he did not drink it – the fans spilled the beer and the man had no choice but to shoot the audience.

For the final – very loud, they say – they were "Mr. November", "Terrible Love" and the old lady "About Today" – beside me excited fans have been asking for the track insistently.

A concert that only sinned because it did not include topics considered mandatory by the fans, but this is fully justified by the expected duration of the alignment. There were 15 songs and a luxury setlist, distributed by an excellent concert.

In 2013, I remember reading an article where singer Matt Berninger stated that at that time, they could already give a good concert. And the truth is that, having not accused the pains of growth, The National gives a show that easily entertains thousands of festivals.
