The first edition of the festival in 1999 (Portugal), Clã (Portugal), Carlos Núñez Band (Spain), Ensemble Opus (Portugal), Abed Azrié (Syria / France / Spain), Quinteto de Carlos Martins (Portugal) and Sonny Fortune (USA) composed the poster. According to the festival's website, Vasco da Gama is to blame for this obsession with world music. In 2005, the festival spread from Sines to Porto Covo, with a scene in a field near the fishing port, overlooking the sea. The concerts in Porto Covo were interrupted in 2009 and returned in 2014 on a new stage in Largo Marquês de Pombal.
In Sines, the stages are divided between the castle, the Arts Center of Sines, Largo Poeta Bocage and the Avenida da Praia (or Vasco da Gama Avenue). It is this avenue that receives the biggest floods, especially at dawn, with free concerts at night inside. The last concert of this edition of the festival (Cero39, Colombia) is scheduled for Sunday morning at 5:45.
Also on Saturday, the last day of the festival, there remains a tradition that remains: the fireworks in the castle to close the festivities.
