Eleven taxi drivers were shot dead early Sunday morning as they were returning from a funeral by a colleague at Kwa-Zulu Natal, near Johannesburg, South Africa.
According to a local police spokesman, the taxi drivers, who were members of the Gauteng taxi company, were on a bus when several gunmen started firing.
"There was an exchange of fire around 6 pm There were 11 dead and four taxi drivers were seriously injured," said Kwa-Zulu Natal spokesman Jay Naicker.
"We are still investigating criminals, taxi rides are common in South Africa, and violence is also common among rival groups," he said.
