Biomedical innovation projects presented at the Pavillon de la Connaissance in Lisbon – Observer

The first eight research and development (R & D) projects of Portuguese institutions selected within the framework of the "Iberian Initiative for Research and Biomedical Innovation, i4b" of the Foundation "La Caixa" and the Foundation for Science and Technology will be presented this Wednesday at 11:30 at the Knowledge Pavilion in Lisbon

The initiative of the two foundations intends to jointly stimulate social impact research projects in the field of Biomedicine and health in five areas: Oncology, Neuroscience, Infectious Diseases, Cardiovascular Diseases and Transdisciplinary Projects Impacting Biomedicine.

In this first competition of 2018, 785 projects were applied (167 in Portugal) and 20 projects from Spain and Portugal were selected. The first eight to be presented have been proposed by researchers from Portuguese institutions and cover topics ranging from new therapies, new treatments to eradicate malaria and new treatments for heart failure. The total amount of credits to support these projects amounts to about five million euros
