The lament comes from a neighbor of Maria Fernandes Ferreira – an 81-year-old woman who fell from the porch of the house this Monday morning in Surribes street in Riba d'Ave, Vila Nova de Famalicão. The retired woman did not stand up to severe head injuries and died.

The accident occurred around 7:30 am. Work is underway to improve housing for seniors and girls. The intervention had begun a few days ago and aimed, among other things, to make the outside stairs less steep and safer for Maria Fernandes Ferreira.

With the removal of a grid, outside the back porch of the room, the old woman left the house in the morning and, accustomed to hanging on this grid, eventually falling helpless at a height of about three meters. The injuries were very serious and, although firefighters and the INEM team went to the scene, there was nothing left to do.
