According to portal G1, 1,266 infections were also confirmed for this disease over this one-year period, between July 2017 and the same month in 2018.

The ministry also revealed that 1,232 others cases were the subject of an investigation by the authorities.

The southeastern region (which includes the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo) continues to record the highest number of cases and deaths, with only one death occurring in outside the region, in the Federal District (center-west).

This large number of cases and deaths occurred because before 2017 the yellow fever virus was not circulating in the southeastern region. The vaccine against the disease was also intended for endemic areas, such as the northern region of the country.
