Brazilians will need a travel authorization to enter Europe from 2021 | Tourism and Travel

The ETIAS system (European Travel Information and Authorization System) was approved by 494 votes in favor, 115 against and 30 abstentions. The law must now be formally adopted by the Council of Ministers, which has already approved it. It will then be published in the Official Gazette.

Before traveling to Europe, tourists will have to fill out an electronic form with personal data, information from the travel document and the country they will enter.

The authorization will be valid for three years and will cost 7 euros (about 32 dollars), except for travelers under 18 or over 70, for which it will be free.

The objective is to compare the information provided by each citizen with that of the various European databases in order to identify, before leaving, persons with "a risk of irregular migration or security".

With this automated system, inspired by the US ESTA form, the EU will better protect its external borders by detecting potentially dangerous individuals before leaving for Europe.
