Brazilian tourists will need an authorization to enter European countries from 2021. For a cost of 7 euros (31.80 reais), the document can be obtained on the Internet.
The initiative was renamed Etias (European Information and Travel Authorization System) and aimed to strengthen security in the region, preventing the entry of suspected persons. To obtain an authorization, you will need to complete an online form with your personal information, travel history and passport. These data will be verified by the European Union and cross-checked with Interpol.
The traveler must receive the authorization, with a validity of three years, by e-mail. There is already an informal agreement between the Council and the European Parliament on the implementation of Etias, which, according to the Parliament itself, should be operational by 2021. The House is expected to vote Thursday for the system rules (5).
Etias will be required for travelers of more than 60 nationalities who do not need a visa to enter the Schengen area countries, as is the case in Brazil. Today, Brazilians wishing to visit the region for a period of up to 90 days must only have a valid passport.
Brazilians who have a passport from European countries will not need an authorization. If you are traveling to the UK, you will not need the document as it is not part of the Schengen area.
Countries within the Schengen Area that will apply for Etias are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland.
