From this Wednesday until Sunday, several public spaces in downtown Aveiro will serve as stage for more than 200 shows – which will mobilize approximately 350 national and international artists – as part of of what is already the third edition of the Chaîne Festival. An event that has developed – and at different levels (from the number of events to the budget) -, presenting itself now "more varied and even more eclectic," emphasizes the head of the municipality, Ribau Esteves. The program of the great concerts includes the names of Salvador Sobral (on the 11th), The Legendary Tigerman with the group of Amizade Aveiro Banda (12), António Zambujo (13th), Carolina Deslandes (14th) and Miguel Araújo 15), but the party goes well beyond these shows, which will take place at the Cais da Fonte Nova.
For five days, between 10:00 am and 1:00 am, around the urban canals of the river, in the squares and public spaces of the city, there will always be something to happen and see. Artistic installations, shows, workshops, sports and leisure activities, creative workshops, street markets and DJ's make up the festival's program, with free access. "It is an event that intends to be, more and more, a reference in the national panorama of major festivals," says Jose Pina, director of Teatro Aveirense and cultural programmer of the municipality of Aveiro. With a budget of 485 thousand euros, this year 's edition begins with high expectations for audience growth.
Highlights include the national debut of Dundu an illuminated puppet of great proportions. Among the international creations to be presented at the Festival of Channels 2018 are Su-Seso Drill a street theater show of Cypriot origin that departs from the traffic urban for an intervention of improvisation and provocation, and Malaxe a performance of a great visual impact weaving a sort of community spiral, coming from France. Adam Read, one of the main clowns of Cirque du Soleil, is another special guest of the Aveirense festival. It will pass through the square Marquês de Pombal, with the representation "The Tower", in which a lonely clown tries to escape to a destination and builds a new reality.
The program also considers proposals for children and the family audience. Especially for the youngest, a "Playground" will be created at Fonte Nova Wharf, where, from 10am to 6pm, workshops, activities, traditional games and a picnic area will be organized every day, among other "jokes" "
The event will also feature a Funky Beach a relaxed and tropical space – with palm trees, sun loungers and various cocktails – which will be installed in the garden of the Santa Joana Museum and will present a varied music signed by different Dj & # 39; s.
