Cuba's new Constitution paves the way for the legalization of same-sex marriage in the country that persecuted people who love other people of the same sex. The draft document is expected to be approved by Cuban MPs this weekend, at the same time chosen by President Miguel Diaz-Canel to reveal the members of his government.
According to Reuters, in the new Cuban law, marriage will be defined between two individuals, not between men and women.

In Cuba, sexual reassignment surgeries have been approved and workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation is prohibited.
Fidel's niece Mariela Castro, daughter of Raul, is one of the leading LGBT rights advocates in the country, reports Reuters.
The new Constitution will replace the Magna Carta of 1976. The project was drafted by a commission led by Raul Castro.
"The possibility of a marriage between two people reinforces the principles of equality and justice of our project," said Homero Acosta, secretary of the State Council, to deputies.
After screening the deputies, the new Constitution will be brought to the national consultation and at the end, subject to a referendum.
