A survey conducted this Wednesday (25) by UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) at the Amsterdam AIDS conference, reveals that every three minutes, a girl of 15 to 19 years is infected with the HIV virus. Among the reasons are rape, lack of access to sex education and stimulation of early sex.
It is clear that many advances in the fight against AIDS have taken place over the last 20 years. However, it is still difficult to avoid infections among teenagers, which prevents further progress, according to the report.
According to the survey, the epidemic spreads to teenage girls due to rape and stimulation of the act very early – including with much older men. Lack of access to sex education and health and poverty are also reasons.
