The attack was planned in detail and the two thieves, who claimed to be marchers of Santiago de Compostela, managed to steal at least 10,000 euros from the vault installed in the sacristy of the Church of Santo António da Torre Velha in Arcozelo, Ponte de Lima.

The Brotherhood judge was surprised by thieves, threatened death with a beaked and spring-loaded knife, gagged with the priest's stole and left lying on the floor, hands and feet.

The attack took place on Tuesday morning, in the temple located on one of the banks of the Lima River, in the pedestrian bridge that gives access to the Limian village and which is very popular with the tourists.

The two thieves were waiting for the judge of the Brotherhood of St. Anthony to arrive at the scene. One of them stood on the deck, watching over him, while the other entered the sacristy, brandishing the passport. He spoke in Spanish and the victim did not miss the request, used to putting stamps.

But he was immediately mistreated with his hands behind his back and threatened with a stab wielded on his neck. Without reacting, he acceded to the indications of the assailant, who tied his hands and feet with a rope that he carried in his backpack.

The false pilgrim opened the chest and took out all the packets of banknotes: about ten thousand euros. He calmly left the sacristy and escaped with the companion. The victim is very frightened and preferred yesterday not to make statements.
