Heat hits 45 degrees next week – Portugal

The counties of Alentejo will be the most affected, but rising temperatures will be widespread in the country.


We expect a very hot week, according to recent forecasts from the Portuguese Institute of Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA). The institute warns against a possible heat wave that will mainly affect the Alentejo area, where temperatures are expected to reach 45 degrees.

Between 2 and 4 August, the most affected municipalities will be Reguengos de Monsaraz, Mourão, Moura and Serpa, where temperatures between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius are expected. Évora will also be the capital of the hottest district with 44 degrees.

In the north coast, the maximum can reach 34º in Porto. In Lisbon, the hottest day will be Thursday (day 2) with 38th. The remaining days, the temperatures should pass the 30th maximum from Wednesday.
