Event Description:

Between 13 July and 31 August, the António Botto Municipal Library hosts the photographic exhibition entitled "Miguel Bombarda Hospital, 1968", written by the doctor of Abrantes, José Fontes.

The opening of the exhibition will take place on July 13 at 17:30 and will be followed by the author who will present the book of the same name, with pictures of his own and the texts and the organization of António Fernando Cascais and Margarida Medeiros. In the occasion will be made projection of the short documentary "Anything of beautiful" which focuses on this photographic project, being planned the presence of the director, Pedro Sena Nunes.
The photos of José Fontes, that we can now see in his hometown, date from 1968, when the author did an internship at this hospital and showed what the daily life of the hospital was like. # 39; institution.
José Milheiriço Fontes [Abrantes, 1940] is a radiologist. Photography is the passion of a child. In 1062/63 he founded, with António Portugal, the photographic section of the Academic Association of Coimbra. He started taking the medical course in Lisbon. He was a member of the Pro-Student Association Commission and there he founded the Exchange and Tourism Section. He organized photography classes in collaboration with other doctors and illustrious teachers. He returned to the Lisbon School of Medicine, where he directed the photography department (first as a Fellow of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and later as a fellow of the Institute high culture). At the Institute of Anatomy, he set up a radiology department and a microangiography department to support doctoral candidates and other researchers. As an associate of Foto Club 6 x 6 (member of the International Federation of Photographic Art – FIAP), he has been part of his Arts Council and has participated in national and international competitions, as well as only at individual exhibitions.
The exhibition can be seen from Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 13:00 and from 14:30 to 18:00
