Six Continental Districts Exposed to Extreme Risk of Ultraviolet Radiation Exposure – Cm to Minute

Six districts of mainland Portugal pose extreme risk of exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation on Monday and the rest of the country is very high, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA). The extreme risk being the districts of Vila Real, Bragança, Guarda, Portalegre, Évora and Beja, the IPMA recommends to avoid as much as possible exposure to the sun in these regions.

The IPMA also placed the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Viseu, Aveiro, Coimbra, Castelo Branco, Leiria, Santarém, Lisbon, Setúbal and Faro on the mainland, the archipelago of Madeira and the island of Flores in the western group of the Azores

of Faial and Terceira, in the Central Group and São Miguel in the eastern group of the Azores are at high levels.

For regions with very high and high risk, the IPMA recommends the use of sunglasses with UV filter, hat, t-shirt, sun protection and sunscreen, in more to discourage the exposure of children to the sun.

UV indexes range from 1 to 2, where the risk of exposure to UV rays is low, from 3 to 5 (moderate), from 6 to (19659002) The IPMA predicts for this Monday on the mainland a small cloudy or clear sky, being generally very cloudy on the west coast until mid-morning, and may persist in some places along the coastal strip.
