The Barcelona Bookstore Wins the Best Global Comic Book Store Award

The awards were announced at dawn today in San Diego, California, as part of Comic Con of this North American city and published in several trade publications.

Akira Comics Store, Madrid, awarded in 2012, recalled in the social network Twitter that Spain now has two comic bookstores already distinguished with the best bookstore prize in the world in this area.

For the second consecutive year, the Portuguese bookstore and publisher Kingpin Books in Lisbon was a finalist of the US Eisner Award for the best comic bookstore in the world.

Founded 19 years ago by publisher Mário Freitas, Kingpin Books began as an online bookstore focused primarily on American comics. In 2002, she opened a physical store and in 2008 she started working as a Portuguese comic book publisher and later foreigner. It is currently one of the largest Portuguese bookstores dedicated to comics and pop culture.

The list includes five times the Irish bookstore Big Bang Comics founded in Dublin in 2011, with Bruno Batista in Portuguese. [19659002] Bookstores Cape and Cowl Comics (United States) and Traveling Man (United Kingdom) were the remaining finalists, in addition to the winning Norma Comics.
