It has its origin in the work of selection of castes carried out since 1978 by an informal network of universities, regional directorates of agriculture, associations, wine and wine companies and others. Preserving the diversity of grape varieties, created over millennia of evolution, is a priority for the sustainability of the vine and wine sector, alongside the selection itself.
