Young Mariana, 17, won the most desired gift of her life: a family. A week before she reached the age of majority, the girl, who had been living in a shelter since her childhood, had found a home.
The couple who, with their three daughters, hosted the teenager, officiated the adoption at an audience on the last day 3, at the West City Forum .
Mariana had already lost hope and imagined more than it was possible to be adopted. There was 11 years at the Rebecca Jenkins orphanage, 192 kilometers from Goiania and 46 kilometers from Brasilia – four years ago at another shelter in Luziânia. Mariana arrived negligently from her parents, who did not have the economic conditions to take care of herself and the other three brothers.
What had to be a temporary situation became permanent and the child lost the emotional connection with the biological family. In the years that have passed, he has not received visits from relatives and the judicial attempts to save links have been frustrated. He has seen several children who have been adopted or resettled to live with parents. There was only Mariana left
The girl thinks she has nine or ten brothers and sisters today. She does not have any contact with them anymore. The only family member to stay in touch is Maiara, her 20-year-old sister, who also lived in a Rebecca Jenkins unit. It is at this point that the story begins and intertwines with that of the adoptive family: unlike Mariana, the eldest, after completing her seniority, was forced to leave the refuge and, backpack, tried to conquer the world live on the street for two years.

The majority is between 13 and 17 years old, with 61.98%. Like Mariana, there are still 610 teenagers who will be 18 by 2018 and will have to leave their homes and their homes. According to the TJGO, the judge articulated with the mayor and social organizations ways to support Mariana, with the offer of a job offer, for example. Fortunately, however, she met her family in time to change her situation and, above all, welcome her with love and care. Lucélia, hairdresser and graduate in theology, did social services by cutting the hair of the children of the orphanage and knew the former director of the site, Pastor Izac Costa, who had warned of the situation worrying of the two sisters.
Lucélia and Laurentino's family live on a farm and usually help young people in vulnerable situations.
In trying to contact Maiara for the first time, Lucélia remembers that it was not easy. "Our first meeting was not very encouraging … Mariana went through a lollipop in her mouth, to say nothing, just to whisper," the adoptive mother laughs in an interview with TJGO.
Gradually the teenager becomes more receptive and the young woman shows affection and joy. The end of the year was near and the family asked, judicially, the girl to spend the break with her.
"It seems like we've known each other forever. Mariana joined our family. She chose us. She gave us the chance to love her, "says Lucelia.
"I almost did not believe it, only after I saw it happen," said the incredulous with the positive changes that she had undergone in so short a time .
