Prakash Raj today announced his resignation from the Cinema Artists Association (MAA). He was defeated by Manchu Vishnu in the 2021 MAA elections.
Prakash Raj said he was deeply saddened to label him as non-local.
“They introduced regionalism and beat me because I was not Telugu. It makes no sense to remain a member of the MAA if the members feel that I am not among them, ”he said, announcing his resignation.
“I will continue to act in Telugu films. But I will not be a member of the MAA, ”he said.
The Prakash Raj and Manchu Vishnu panels fought fiercely in the MAA elections held on Sunday. Manchu Vishnu was elected Chairman of MAA.
