Senior running back Austin Schlies rushed 15 times for 219 yards and four touchdowns as Northwestern made up for a 14-12 halftime deficit to win at St. Croix Falls in football. the Heart O ‘North Conference on Friday October 8, 2021.

The victory puts the Tigers (8-0 overall, 6-0 HON) and Cumberland (8-0, 6-0) in an unbeaten battle for the conference title at 7 p.m. on Oct. 15 in Maple.

Superior was held to a single touchdown late in the first half in a Friday home loss in the Big Rivers Conference game at NBC Spartan Sports Complex.

The Spartans (1-7, 1-5 Big Rivers) trailed 14-0 when Carson Gotelaere broke 3 yards with seconds left in the first half.

However, no comeback was to come, as Brayden Warwick’s one-meter dive at the end of the third quarter was the only goal of the second half.

Superior ends his season on Friday at Menomonie.
