Menlo’s school won one of their West Bay Athletic League women’s volleyball rivalries against Sacred Heart Prep on Thursday to grab first place in the Foothill Division.
Menlo swept the home game 25-14, 26-24, 25-19 as senior Hanna Hoffman recorded a team-high 14 kills with a 0.407 shooting percentage. She added 16 assists and 12 digs.
Menlo (20-5, 5-0) opened the first set by winning 13 of the first 15 points. In the second set, Sacred Heart Prep took a 22-21 lead on a combined block from Mia Radeff and Sara Alnajjar.
Menlo scored the next three points before the Gators (16-2, 4-1) tied him in a victory for Tatum Baker. Menlo then closed the second set.
Sacred Heart Prep also took a 15-14 lead in the third set before Menlo scored the next four points, including an ace from Hallie MacDonald, who had 14 digs, and a kill from Hoffman.
Zoe Gregory added 26 assists and Sharon Nejad had 13 kills on .385 hits for the Knights, who face Burlingame in reunion weekend Friday night.
Sophomore Isabelle Marco led SHP with seven kills. Senior Millie Muir recorded 15 assists and 14 digs.
The preparation for the Sacré-Cœur is at home on Tuesday against the current leader of the SCVAL division De Anza, Los Gatos, Tuesday at 6.30pm.
Los Gatos beat Gunn in four sets 25-17, 25-16, 23-25, 25-16. The Titans (8-12, 1-5) got a solid game behind libero Micaela Leong.
Also in the SCVAL, Palo Alto won at home, beating Homestead 25-16, 25-20, 25-21.
Los Altos defeated Monta Vista 18-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-9, 15-7 in another SCVAL game. The Eagles (11-9, 3-3) have won back-to-back wins from a four-game losing streak.

Serafina Cortez scored the deciding goal early in the fourth period and Castilleja beat host Gunn 9-7 in a SCVAL De Anza division game on Thursday.
Nina Albers gave Gunn a 6-5 lead with 1:50 left in the third period. Caitlyn Chau tied for Castilleja in the last minute.
Cortez’s goal sparked a three-goal rally, with Sydney Lowell leading the team with five goals, and Gabby Lewis also scoring.
Kenza Ashworth led Gunn with three goals. The two goalkeepers, Sutchir Ofori-Nyako of Castilleja and Jayden Kratt of Gunn, made 11 saves.
Neither team led by more than two goals until the Gators took a 9-6 advantage with 1:26 remaining in the game.
Girls Golf
Lauren Sung won medalist honors with a round of 36 Thursday at Baylands Golf Links and Palo Alto defeated Gunn 198-227 in a SCVAL game.
Sydney Sung followed with a 37 and Allyson Lee and Bridget O’Keefe each registered a 39.
Alanna Lee led Gunn with a 43.
In the WBAL, Mischa Chaikovsky shot a 46 but Sacred Heart Prep fell to co-leader Harker 228-257 at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Ckub.
Girls tennis
Andra Braicu, Brynn Brady and Kate Hsia each won their singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 and Menlo beat Notre Dame Belmont 7-0 in a WBAL game on Thursday.
Elsewhere, Crystal Springs Uplands beat Sacred Heart Prep 6-1. Natalie Dias, No. 1 in singles, won for the Gators.
In the PAL Bay division, Holly Cheung and Sofia Cadoret’s No.1 doubles team led Menlo-Atherton to a 7-0 victory over Half Moon Bay. Meen Alvi won fourth place in singles.
