It’s the last COVID-free county in the US right now
In the 1800s, thousands of patients with infectious diseases were forced to isolate themselves from the outside world at a new settlement in Kalawao County, Hawaii. Today, Kalawao is the last county in the United States without a single documented case of coronavirus. This week, as new infections rose across the continental United States, to 160,000 cases per day nationwide – and with 16,841 in Hawaii and 25,369 in Alaska – only Kalawao did not have yet reported only one infection.
