Progress report on L.J. Collier and other Seahawks on injuries

And now, we are waiting …

There are only 24 hours left before the Seattle Seahawks are just 53 players. This gives us ample time to speculate on who is registered, who is missing and where Seattle could change the lineup according to who will be eliminated in the NFL.

You will find below my final projections. There was only one change after the Seahawks' win over the Oakland Raiders in the pre-season final, but I added a comment on where things could be upset over the weekend. end. I also indicated who, in my opinion, will be in the top four, the top four and the 10 candidates for the practice team.

Quarterback (2)

Russell Wilson and Geno Smith

Analysis: Smith's 39-yard offense against Terry Wright at the opening of the game on Thursday night locked the save job (if it had not already done so). The question is whether Smith's knee injury is serious or not. Smith did not seem too worried, but Pete Carroll said the team will know more in the coming days.

Paxton Lynch put a terrible end to his pre-season. He completed only 1 pass attempt on 7 for four yards against the Raiders. The backup offensive line did not offer much protection to Lynch, but the QB still did not offer much. I guess the Seahawks are going beyond the current list if Smith's knee injury was worse than originally thought.

Current (5)

Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, J.D. McKissic, C.J. Prosise and Nick Bellore

Analysis: I have not made any changes here, but it would not surprise me if Seattle had originally cut Bellore to keep another person in a different place. It's a safe bet that Bellore would be available if the Seahawks wanted to bring him back.

Wide receiver (6)

Tyler Lockett, DK Metcalf, David Moore, Gary Jennings, Jaron Brown and John Ursua

Analysis: man … I did my best to prevent Jennings from being on the list, but nobody was so distinguished on the other hand to justify a fourth round pick. Carroll gave the impression that Jennings had improved in practice and that he came with his knowledge of the system. If it were all up to me, I would keep Jazz Ferguson over Jennings. However, Carroll never seemed to believe in the unprepared rookie.

Keep an eye out for the wide receivers cut around the NFL. I think the Seahawks will be on the market for one.

Tight end (3)

Nick Vannett, Will Dissly and Jacob Hollister

Analysis: These three choices were easy, but we still do not know what the Seahawks are planning to do with Ed Dickson (knee).

Offensive line (9)

Duane Brown, Mike Iupati, Justin Britt, D.J. Fluker, Germain Ifedi, George Fant, Jamarco Jones, Ethan Pocic and Joey Hunt

Analysis: Phil Haynes (sports hernia) seems destined for the PUP. I feel confident with the rest of this list, but there are some question marks regarding major injuries with Iupati (foot / calf), Fant (ankle) and Hunt (ankle).

Defensive Line (8)

Cassius Marsh, Quinton Jefferson, Al Woods, Ezekiel Ansah, L. Collier, Rasheem Green, Ford Poona and Jacob Martin

Analysis: Brian Mone and Jamie Meder will make two difficult cuts. Abandoning Barkevious Mingo was becoming easier as the pre-season progressed. He just was not productive enough as a hunter.

Seconder (6)

Bobby Wagner, K. J. Wright, Mychal Kendricks, Cody Barton, Austin Calitro and Ben Burr-Kirven

Analysis: The combination of Burr-Kirven's performance against the Raiders and Shaquem Griffin's throbbing knee injury allowed the rookie to choose the fifth lap to reach the final range of my screenings. I think Griffin is an IR candidate, which would help Seattle hide it for a year without having to cut it or BBK. Carroll did not seem very optimistic when he discussed Griffin's knee injury Thursday night.

Defensive Back (11)

Shaquill Griffin, Tedric Thompson, Bradley McDougald, Tre Flowers, Neiko Thorpe, Ugo Amadi, Akeem King, Marquise Blair, Lano Hill, DeShawn Shead and Jamar Taylor

Analysis: Like the wide receiver, Seattle could look for outside help at the cornerback. King did not have a stellar pre-season, but the Seahawks are lean in outside turns. DeShawn Shead started at RCB and played well against the Raiders. His leadership, versatility and defense skills make me believe he is safe.

Specialists (3)

Jason Myers, Michael Dickson and Tyler Ott

Analysis: As before.

Last four in:

Gary Jennings, Nick Bellore, Akeem King and Ben Burr-Kirven

Four first on:

Malik Turner, Jamie Meder, Brian Mone and Travis Homer

10 potential candidates in the training teams:

Malik Turner, Jamie Meder, Brian Mone, Travis Homer, Ferguson Jazz, Simeon Thomas, J.T. Barrett, Shalom Luani, Bo Scarbrough and Terry Wright
