If you patiently waited for the Playstation 5 Throughout 2020, karma suggests you should have been rewarded with a console on Thursday, November 12, when Sony finally launched the PS5 at retail. This is not how it happened. Inventory ran out at lightning speed, leaving most Walmart shoppers to frantically click on a site that cordoned off under traffic.
As promised, Walmart divided its inventory and released consoles four times during the day – 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. PT. That didn’t stop the site from crashing for many customers, however, and the inventory evaporated more or less instantly anyway.
Right now, Walmart, like all retailers, is currently sold out on both the digital-only $ 400 PS5 and the $ 500 model with Blu-ray. (As long as it’s relevant, we continue to advise that if you don’t need the optical drive for games or movies, you probably should go with the $ 400.)
Walmart (and other retailers) won’t be sold out forever, of course, and we’ll wait to let you know. when all stores have restocked. Inventory will be limited everywhere for the remainder of 2020, so if you’re planning on scoring a PS5, you’ll need to be vigilant. We will continue to update this article as the story of availability evolves – like Walmart tweeting again.

This is the cheapest digital edition, featuring an 825GB SSD but without an optical drive. If you have a good broadband connection, you are better off spending your money here.
