Rockland County officials announced seven new potential measles exposure sites – six sites and a taxi service – in Nanuet and Monsey.

On Thursday, May 9, 224 cases of measles were confirmed since the beginning of the epidemic last year.

Anyone who has visited any of the following locations or used the following taxis may have been exposed to measles.

Potential exposure areas are:

  • Home Depot – Nanuet, 43 Hutton Ave., May 3 from 4 pm to 5:45 pm, with a risk of exposure to measles until 7:45 pm

  • Maple Pharmacy – Monsey, 59 Route 59, April 28th from 7pm to 8pm, with a risk of exposure to measles until 10pm.

  • Evergreen Kosher Market – Monsey, 59 Route 59, April 28th from 7pm to 8pm, with a risk of exposure to measles until 10pm.

  • Rockland Kosher Supermarket at Shoppers Haven – Monsey Mall, 27 Orchard Street, April 30th, May 1st and 2nd, from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. with a risk of exposure to measles until 9 pm

  • Satmar Synagogue – Monsey, 13 Monsey Blvd. April 30th and May 1st from 8am to 9.30am with a risk of exposure to measles until 11.30am

  • Ohel Yakov Congregation – Monsey, 1 Challenger Court on April 30th, May 1st and 2nd, from 8:30 pm to 10 pm with a risk of exposure to measles until midnight.

  • The Familia Taxi on Thursday, May 2nd from 16:40 to 17:00 with a risk of exposure to measles until 19:00.

  • The Familia Taxi on Thursday May 2nd from 18h to 18h20, with a risk of exposure to measles until 20h20.

  • Taxi La Familia Monday, May 6th from 8:40 am to 9:00 am, with a risk of exposure to measles until 11:00 am.

These hours correspond to the period when infected individuals were in these areas and at a period of two hours after leaving, as the virus remains in the air and on the surface for up to two hours.

The free measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccines are available for residents six months and older on Friday, May 17 from 9 am to noon at Christ Episcopal Church, at 65 Washington Avenue in Suffern. Free MMR vaccines are also available by calling the Rockland County Health Department at 845-364-2497 or 845-364-2520 to make an appointment to get a free MMR vaccine at the health resort. from Pomona.
