Purple Rain becomes Crimson Tide – Fort Bragg Advocate-News

Get them back!

The news that Golden West Saloon has decided to skip the Fort Bragg Pool League fall season was sad news, and we hope they will be back next season. The Fort Bragg Pool League sort of took off before all the horses were properly strapped in, and in confusion, Golden West Saloon remained standing at the barn. In other news, people are competing again and playing League Pool at Fort Bragg after 18 months without playing. When the first shutdown was announced we thought it would be over in a few months, maybe by June 2020. When we heard the news of the shutdown, we couldn’t imagine not playing for two months. We never thought it could last 18 months. It remains a shock to have lost these many weeks of play in the Fort Bragg Pool League, and the hope that it will never happen again.

Purple Rain has reinvented itself again and it now appears as a version of the Crimson Tide. Greg, as usual, takes a little while before settling down to win in the League. The game in the league brings its own pressures, and we do not want to let the team down by losing the match. Worrying about not letting the team down, while playing a match, can increase the likelihood of you doing just that. Concentrate on the table in front of you. Turn off all the comments and focus on your real opponent, who is playing against you at the table. If you let your concentration wander, you might miss this easy game that costs you the game.

When you have a ball in your hand, take the extra time you may not know you need to decide which ball to play first. If you can, choose a ball that gives a natural shape to the next ball. We’ve all seen someone with the ball in hand, make the play and miss the stroke, or the shape of the next ball. It seems impossible, but it happens to someone every season. If this happens to you, let it go. The blow is over, and thinking about it will only take you away from your current problem: winning the game. It can be counterproductive to think about your past mistakes while focusing on a problem you are having here and now.

Tip: If you are having difficulty in a game, it is important that you win. Become a conservative player and start by playing the center shot on the cue ball and play with a softer stroke. Concentrate on making the ball; forget about spinning for the sake of form until your ball making percentage recovers. Then you can start using the rotation again to get the shape. contact me at [email protected].
