BOARDMAN – The Oak Glen and Salem cross-country teams put in strong performances on Saturday at the 36th annual Spartan Invitational at Boardman High School.

The Oak Glen boys placed 10th as a team in a 37-depth field featuring some of Ohio’s strongest cross country teams.

Oak Glen senior Konnor Allison was 10th in 17:40 on the 31 mile course to lead the Golden Bears.

The Salem boys were 13th overall with Will Madison leading the Quakers with a 46th place (18:35).

The Salem girls finished third out of 25 Div teams. II girls race. Maggie Hopple led the Quakers with a fourth place in 20:14.

The Salem daughters had been ranked first in the state in the last Div. II survey of state coaches.

In Div girls. Third race Emma Brown, a sophomore from Eastern Palestine, placed 12th in 9:30 pm to lead the runners in the region.

In boys Div. Third race, South Range was able to finish fourth in the team. Brian Standley was eighth to dominate the Raiders (17:55).

Salem is out until the Columbiana County meeting on September 28.
