Today is the choice of the weekend as we are seeing brighter, sunny skies with lower humidity and highs in the 70s. There will be breezes at times with NNE winds of 5-15mph.
Tonight, under mostly clear skies, temperatures will drop to the lower 50 degrees.
It will be a brisk start to fall on Monday, but, like today, temperatures are bouncing back into the low 70s.
Speaking of Monday, don’t forget to check out the “Harvest” full moon, it is the full moon closest to the fall equinox. This year, the fall equinox will take place on Wednesday, September 22. On the fall equinox, day and night are roughly equal because the sun’s rays are directly above the equator.
As we move towards the winter solstice, the sun’s rays continue their march towards the Tropic of Capricorn in the southern hemisphere.
We may be heading into fall, but the tropics continue to warm. Odette is now post-tropical and will continue to move away from New England, but will still bring dangerous swells and currents to our shores today.
Also, as of this morning, we now have Tropical Storm Peter flying over the central Atlantic and will progress northwest, north of the Lesser Antilles before making a northerly turn mid-week, approaching Bermuda d ‘by the end of the week.
We also have Tropical Depression Seventeen, just off the coast of Africa, which will likely become Tropical Storm Rose later today. It is expected to move north-northwest over the open Atlantic and weaken by midweek.
Regarding our local weather forecast, the sun and calm weather is maintained for Tuesday, as the high pressures remain located over the region.
Wednesday is partly cloudy followed by a front that brings scattered showers and thunderstorms by Thursday. A few showers could linger early Friday and next weekend we will be dry and in season with highs in the 70s.
