COLUMBUS, Ohio – Quinn Ewers – the No. 1 recruiting class of 2022 quarterback – from Southlake Carroll High School in Texas enlisted in the state of Ohio less than a month after his withdrawal from Texas.
Head coach Ryan Day wanted to turn the Buckeyes into a “QBU” and their recruiting success reflects that. They landed two in 2020 at CJ Stroud and Jack Miller, then followed up with five-star quarterback Kyle McCord in 2021. Landing Ewers continues the trend of chasing high school’s more elite quarterbacks.
Ewers is the fifth five-star quarterback to commit to Ohio state in the modern era and only trails Terrelle Pryor as the top-ranked entry. He joins linebacker Gabe Powers as a five-star in the class.
His entry is the first of what could be a historic class with other five-star favored to pick Ohio State, like cornerback Domani Jackson and wide receiver Caleb Burton.
