Rams News: 3 takeaways from Rams vs Colts in week 2

[ad_1]

The The Los Angeles Rams came out victorious against the Indianapolis Colts in a game that was not polished but still got the W. The game featured two defensive saves in the red zone, two touchdowns from Cooper Kupp and a missed special teams play that resulted in a touchdown for the Colts .

Here are three takeaways from week two of Rams vs Colts:

COOPER KUPP IS A DOG

Kupp had two touchdown passes and a total of 163 receiving yards in the game. He had a nice catch and run on a screen and a longest reception of 44 yards. He continues to demonstrate his mastery of the scheme and defensive covers by being in the right place at the right time and appears to be in tune with quarterback Matthew Stafford. After two games, he’s off to a good 1,000-yard season.

THE DEFENSE OF THE RED ZONE IS STRONG

The game began with a practice that threw off the Colts ‘offense four times at the Rams’ yard line. The first three attempts were runs in the middle and the fourth attempt resulted in a Leonard Floyd sack. On a second visit to the red zone, the result was an interception by Troy Reeder on a random pass from Carson Wentz that seemed to have been read and predicted by the defense.

JALEN RAMSEY CANNOT BE IGNORED

Jalen Ramsey didn’t seem to have a direct impact on play in the first three quarters, but that’s usually the case for a defender the offense plans to avoid. However, starting quarterback Carson Wentz suffered an injury in the final phase of the game and Jacob Eason arrived as a backup. Eason must have missed the memo on Jalen Ramsey as he made the mistake of throwing in Ramsey’s direction with the game on the line and the top-ranked cornerback made him pay off by grabbing his first interception of the season.

All in all, this was another encouraging sight from a group that hadn’t had a live game during the preseason and still appear to be heating up to early-season potential. But at 2-0 and two impressive outings, the Rams look great, but will need that next level with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers come to town the third week.
