When nominations are announced for any major awards ceremony, there will always be conflicting opinions on the names that belong to the final categories.
When Gayle King of CBS This Morning noticed the shortage of women among the nominees for the ACM Awards 2019 Artist of the Year, she asked Reba McEntire to give her opinion. McEntire helped announce the nominations during the episode of Wednesday (Feb. 20) and on Facebook.
"It does not make me very happy," McEntire said of the lack of female representation in the category, "because we have very talented women working hard … I miss my friends about it." . . "
McEntire, long-time host of the ACM Awards for 16 years, won the honor in 1994 and has been nominated nine times in the category since 1986.
The CMA 2019 artist category directly reflects that of CMA's 2018 Artist of the Year.
When she asked him what artists such as Kacey Musgraves and Miranda Lambert bring to the country music, McEntire replied: they make their music and music that they write and choose to sing. I think it's a breath of fresh air. "
Reba McEntire will host the ACM Awards live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 7th at 8pm. AND on CBS. Chris Stapleton and Dan + Shay lead the nominees in 2019 with six nods each.
