Reba McEntire received the treatment of a cat stuck in a tree from an Oklahoma fire department – except the trunk she had set up was actually a fairly old building with a collapsed staircase.
The country singer was one of 7 people rescued Tuesday by authorities in Atoka, OK. Reba and a friend were visiting a historic site – the building is at least 100 years old – when it partially collapsed inside.
Director of Emergency Management Travis Mullin told us … the building was being remodeled when this happened – dilapidated stairs already had to be replaced. No word on why someone was left inside, if that was the case.
Close call for @reba in Atoka, Oklahoma Tuesday (9/14/21) Sure she and her boyfriend Rex Linn are doing fine!
While visiting an old building, a staircase collapsed. They were among seven people inside. The best of Atoka came to the rescue.

Either way, Reba et co. were, luckily, just on the second floor when the stairs collapsed … leaving them stuck up there and in need of an old-fashioned ladder rescue. Video of the incident shows firefighters leading her and others safely through the window.
Reba et cie. were mostly fine … one person was taken to hospital with minor injuries. After the fact, officials said that not only did the stairs to the 2nd floor collapse, but those leading to the 3rd floor did too… trapping others higher up at the time.
Obviously, it could have been a lot worse than it turned out … especially for Reba. Indeed, she is a survivor.
