Receiver Ducks Pittman (shoulder) off 6-8 weeks

Oregon freshman-coach Mycah Pittman will miss six to eight weeks after suffering a shoulder injury during the competition, head coach Mario Cristobal said Monday.

"Mycah is injured in the shoulder while he was diving in Saturday's competition, which would miss the start of the 2019 season," Cristobal said in a statement. "This is a fierce competitor who will come back stronger and ready to compete this season."

Pittman enrolled in Oregon prior to spring training and was an ESPN 300 member in the 2019 recruiting class. After a strong performance in the spring and fall, Pittman should contribute early to a body of receivers seeking to replace Dillion Mitchell, who set the record for total receptions in Oregon with 1,184 yards in 2018.

Pittman's injury further weakens a receiving unit that has already had a rash. Senior Brenden Schooler, with 41 career catches, and rookie J. R. Waters are both absent for a long time after suffering a foot injury that required surgery. Cam McCormick and Jacob Breeland also ran out of time at the fall camp, but Cristobal said he expected them to return to training this week.

The Ducks, ranked 11th, will open the season against number 16, Auburn, on August 31st in Arlington, Texas (7:30 pm Eastern Time, ABC).
