A Reddit post exploded on r / RedDeadOnline. The post claims someone uploaded a picture to a local news station as part of a segment on the great outdoors. This local station ended up using the beautiful image, not knowing it was from Red Dead Redemption 2.
The KTVZ 21 news station in Oregon apparently has an “Out & About” segment that promotes outdoor activities like hiking and landscape photography. In accepting viewer images to use for the segment, the station chose a suspicious photo that some players would recognize. The pines, the mountains in the distance and the flowing river make for a stunning photo. Of course, the image is from the Game Awards 2018 game of the year, not from a pretty walking trail in Oregon.
One interesting thing to note about Red Dead Redemption 2’s The map is that it covers fictitious areas that are designed to represent locations across North America. So whoever chose the image at KTVZ 21 has a little excuse, the image looks like something that would be in their backyard.

While games, in general, have come a very long way, there aren’t many that could trick someone into believing that this is, in fact, a real world image, because this Red Dead Redemption 2 the picture did.

Fans have done a lot with Rockstar’s game in particular, with one fan even creating a trailer for a potential.
