The Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles arrive in Williamsport next summer.

For real this time.

Rivals from the American League East were originally scheduled to make their MLB Little League Classic debut before the COVID-19 pandemic wiped out the game altogether in 2020.

On August 21, 2022, the two clubs will make their long-awaited trip to Bowman Field.

“We are thrilled to be part of one of MLB’s last traditions that directly connects Major League players with the next generation of potential stars of the game,” Red Sox president Tom Werner said. “Playing the Orioles at Historic Bowman Field is an honor and we look forward to deepening the connection between today’s youth and the American hobby.”

The announcement came from the MLB just as the Angels and Indians kicked off this year’s Classic on Sunday night. The fifth edition of the annual event will be counted as a home game for Baltimore.

“We are delighted to have been selected to participate in the Little League Classic next year” said Mike Elias, executive vice president and general manager of Orioles. “Our players and staff were very excited to spend time with the next generation of players and fans at the 2020 event prior to its cancellation, so that we have the opportunity to compete against the Red Sox next season at Historic. Bowman Field while supporting the Commissioner’s efforts to grow the game are a tremendous honor for our club.

Red Sox and Orioles players will attend next year’s Little League World Series games and interact with younger players through various pre-Classic activities. The fifth installment of the annual game is scheduled for the first launch at 7 p.m.
