Filip Zadina is on NHL COVID protocol absentee list today

To catch up with you, Filip Zadina joins Sam Gagner, Robby Fabbri, Adam Erne and Jon Merrill on the Wings’ COVID protocol list. Zadina has traveled with the team to Chicago and that begs the question of whether the Wings will be able to keep enough people off that roster to continue playing or if we’ll start to see postponements hitting us as well.
Detroit started their season against Carolina, who immediately lost Jordan Staal to protocol between Games 1 and 2 and has since had their games postponed tonight. The Dallas Stars will play their season opener tonight after similar issues.
This is a developing story and we will update with more information as we go.
As a reminder of the taxi team rules, the team has until 5:00 p.m. ET to call a member of the taxi team on play day. Givani Smith was recalled from that team today, this which gives Detroit 11 attackers available for Chicago.

UPDATE: Forward Darren Helm and defender Christian Djoos have been removed from the non-aligned list (COVID protocol).
