The so-called “sergeant-at-arms” of the Seattle chapter of the far-right extremist group Proud Boys will remain in custody for his alleged role in the US Capitol riot.
Ethan Nordean, 30, was arrested on February 3 on four counts related to the January 6 siege, including a violent entry and disorderly conduct on the Capitol grounds. According to the 21-page complaint, photos and videos of the violent uprising that left five dead show the Nordians “near the front of the rioting crowd” as they outnumbered the Capitol police.
Nordean’s alias is a reference to a character in the 1991 Peter Pan fantasy film “Hook,” according to the Seattle Times.
He faces more than 30 years in prison if found guilty of the four charges he faces. His public defender, meanwhile, called prosecutors’ claims that Nordean was a potential leak risk “far-fetched”, saying he had in fact surrendered to face federal charges.
