Texan couple met on September 11, after their plane was diverted to Canada
As September 11 tore apart so many loved ones, it brought Houston couple Nick and Diane Marson together in the strangest way.
The two were flying separately on an international flight to the United States on September 11, 2001, when their plane was diverted to New Foundland, Canada, following the attacks and after the closure of American airspace, according to FOX 26 Houston.
“I noticed that the flight attendant was extremely nervous and was almost visibly shaking and I thought she was really not suited for this job,” Nick, 73, told the station. “I had no idea she was probably walking around the plane looking for other people who could have been terrorists.”

Queen Elizabeth offers ‘thoughts and prayers’ on September 11
Queen Elizabeth II celebrated the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks by offering condolences to the victims, survivors and families affected by the atrocity.
In a message to US President Joe Biden, the British monarch recalled the “terrible attacks” on New York and Washington, DC
“My thoughts and prayers – and those of my family and the entire nation – are with the victims, survivors and affected families, as well as first responders and rescue workers called to work,” she said.
“My visit to the World Trade Center site in 2010 remains etched in my memory. It reminds me that as we honor those of many nations, faiths and origins who have lost their lives, we also honor the resilience and determination of the communities who have come together to rebuild. ”
Prime Minister Boris Johnson also recalled the attacks, issuing a statement ahead of the anniversary saying the terrorists had failed “to undermine our belief in freedom and democracy”.

Pennsylvania ceremony honors 40 passengers and crew who foiled Flight 93 terrorists
Hundreds of people lined the route of the Flight 93 memorial near Shanksville, Pa. On Friday night as 40 people carried lanterns, representing the passengers and crew who defeated the terrorist hijackers in the plane before it fell in a field, according to a report.
The luminaria ceremony is an annual tradition at the memorial but had weighted importance after 20 years since September 11.
“We need it,” Gordon Felt, who lost his brother on the flight that day, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “Our country and the world need places like the National Flight 93 Memorial because it reminds us of who we are, who we have become and maybe who we could become again – a healing.”
Biden praises “national unity” in prerecorded 9/11 message in US
In a video released Friday, President Biden referred to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in America, emphasizing that “national unity” is “America’s greatest strength.”
Biden opened the video while chatting about his friend Davis, with whom Biden said he “grew up in Delaware.”
“That day, 20 years ago, he and his family had just passed the first year without their youngest of three sons, Teddy, who died in a boating accident at the age of 15,” Biden said as he began to describe the horror of a family on That Day.
“His eldest son, Davis Jr., only had six days for a new job on the 104th floor of the South Tower of the World Trade Center.”

United States celebrates 20 years of September 11
The United States is expected to mark the 20th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on Saturday with commemorations at New York’s World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The milestone anniversary comes just weeks after the chaotic U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan and the return to power of the Taliban, the faction that housed the Muslim militant group founded by Osama bin Laden that carried out the attacks.
